Коллеги зажигают по поводу 1 Апреля. На корпоративном сайтек типа Фейсбука пишет один из главных редакторов:
"“For some years now we have been debating whether to use British or American English in our content, and as part of the editorial management restructuring we are now able to settle the debate in favor of the US version.
Those of you outside North America will realize that aside from using the more internationally recognized spellings (such as -or vs -our, and z vs s) there are many other grammatical differences and cultural assumptions that will need to be taken into account.
Detailed guidelines on how we will accomplish the changeover will be coming soon, but some of the fast-track changes you will notice will include:
- references to days will not have prepositions, so "said Monday" instead of "said on Monday"
- Corrections will be slugged "OUR BAD:..."
- Names of people in copy will include their full title, including middle initial and suffixes such as Jr., III, etc
- our internal communications will help reinforce the style, so for example London editors should point out that they have "cookies" to share, instead of "biscuits"
- Bylines at the bottom of stories will include a farewell like so: "By Firstname Lastname - Have a nice day!"
- A new hyperlink at the bottom of stories will allow readers to express their appreciation through a direct gratuity to the author, based on 5 cents per word. Suggested minimum 15% for a good story, with a minimum 18% for groups of six or more who read the story.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation in this switch. The success of this project will help shape another change scheduled for 1 April 2012, when we hope to have editors in Houston and London able to write copy in Mandarin.”
Это была одна из лучших шуток за последние годы! Причем, первые строки заставили меня вздрогнуть и тихонечко взвыть, но потом пришло озарение))) Но это еще не все, потому что потом остальные журналисты и редакторы подтянулись с предложаниями, например, выпускать наши отчеты в пиратском стиле:
“We should report in Pirate English, me hearties!
A couple of examples:
"Th' arbitrage t' Asia be closed this week!"
"Thar be salt-blastedly good demand from th' gasoline sector!"”"
Главное, надо сказать, что такой стиль наши отчеты явно освежает))) Но пока наши редакторы резвились внутренне, некоторые из братских изданий не стали мелочиться, и пустили радостное в печать. Например, специализированное издание для авиаиндустрии вышло с объявлением, что ВА изобразят портреты всей королевсвой семьи, за исключением Камилы (новой жены принца Чарльза), ибо на нее самолета не хватило)))
